Harm Reduction

Harm Reduction

Harm reduction is meant to reduce the negative consequences associated with drug use. At Thrive Peer Support, we embrace all pathways to recovery and are active in harm reduction initiatives throughout the community. To help combat an increasing number of overdose fatalities, we meet individuals who use drugs where they are, and support practices that encourage safer use, managed use, and addressing conditions of use along with the use itself.

By targeting high-risk communities through zip code data, our staff distributes Narcan, harm reduction supply kits, and fentanyl test strips to individuals and their family members. All of our Certified Peer Recovery Supporters are trained on proper Narcan use and we distribute Narcan to our staff and stakeholders regularly.

Narcan®

“NARCAN® is a potentially life-saving medication designed to help reverse the effects of an opioid overdose in minutes.” Since most opioid overdoses occur in the home and are most often witnessed, having a NARCAN® rescue kit nearby can make all the difference.

If someone you know takes opioids or prescription opioids, such as oxycodone or hydrocodone for pain, be prepared for a possible life-threatening opioid overdose emergency. Please see Indication and Important Safety
